A Morning's Conquest

In one morning we managed to see Mornington Peninsula, Point Nepean and Sorrento included; from the hills to the seas. Australia is nature itself and its landscape covers lowlands and highlands embraced in natural beauty.

We were greeted with beautiful blooms while visiting the wineries in the Red Hill Region of Mornington Peninsula. The hilly landscape allows grapes to fruit and flowers to bloom abundantly.

The macho Jason is funny and is fun to be with. Uncle Robert has always been pal to him.

The girls have to look after granny; brave granny despite a fall a month before wants to see all that she is permitted to. Dr. Grace is on 24 hour call.

Red Hill; famous for her wine. It was an experience as I often wondered when Red Hill wine is offered during gatherings of friends and family occasions. So it is here that the wine is made.

Rows of grape vines dotted the landscape abundantly.

Kong Kong is especially curious as he examined the fruits and its growth. Nearly a centenarian, he doesn't rest on his laurels and is still keen to learn new things. He is an inspiration.

Up in Red Hill, the wind is chilly but perfect for the grapes.

I hope wine doesn't make you drunk... I can get drunk with it; people laugh at me when they see me lie down after a couple of glasses. But they say wine has many health properties...

Wine tasting is a must here; so you get to select your favourite.

Grace managed to secure a few bottle for buddies in her work place.

Then we had some coffee to warm ourselves up...

Handsome Jason was questioned by Kong Kong..." lu tak sakit ah?" ( do the pricklings cause you pain?) Sad but true... the 'banana children, mine included; converse with their grandparents in the Malay Language not Chinese; thanks to English speaking parents in the home. So Jason is ready to rectify the situation; he enrolls himself for a Mandarin course in Beijing soon. Grace has to pick it up as a survival tool in her profession when she faces her patients daily in Chinese speaking Singapore... and Esther has to make up her mind to learn fast.

Arthurs Seat is an indication of a high point there and is 305 metres above sea level.

We also saw Point Nepean.

Point Nepean is home to the first indigenous Australians and was at one time a place where people struck with communal diseases were treated. Today it has become another look out point for tourists.

The coastline as we witnessed from a point in this look out spot. Beautiful stretch of seashore.

From a high point we proceeded to the beach; Sorrento Beach.

Sorrento Beach is another hit for those who love the beach and sunshine.

Here we were told to eat fish and chips.

True to its reputation, they were really palatable and better than the previous one we had in Williamstown.

A last look at the coastline before we left Sorrento; the grandparents left with Jason and his father for home while the girls, dad and I made the decision to experience the Great Ocean Road.

Our next destination; the Great Ocean Road.
