The Stars

So many stars for the Digi Night.
But 3 main stars I know; Aaron, Samuel and Reuben !
In school they are most active in the co-curricular fields.
They indulge in activities that brought about creativity, fun and talent.

Aaron and Samuel are stars; both were in school last year. Both have left for higher endeavors and both have done their Alma mater proud.
They produced a clip of the school that brought much laughter to many.
Betul, betul ada gaya
(They have got style!)

Did you enjoy it?

Mr. Reuben left the school in 2004. I can never forget this guy. An active Interactor, he was always the man behind the scene where the action is. I remember him dressing up in the turquoise pinafore during a morning assembly and got the whole school in stitches. "Knock, knock Heaven's Door" was his song during the talent show of the year and he was indeed  professional in his cowboy attire ! Hey, he was so funny in school. He is still funny today. So last night he and his croonies again clinched another title; adding  another feather to his cap. Congratulations, young man and friends.

Reminisces of the past indeed brought home so many memories.A well thought and presented clip that is nostalgic and touch many viewers. This actually tells us that the Y generation does consider the things of the baby boomers decent, fun, creative and to be replicated too!

To the ex-Seafieldians, you have indeed done the school proud; though you are no more with us.

The Best PTAs

Today we were told that we have another feather in the cap.
We acquired the best managed Parent-Teacher Association award in the NATION...for the Secondary School Category.
Yes, it is a national award.
We are one of Malaysia's best PTA!
Unbelievable but a truth !

Believe me though...Rome was not built in a day. So the status of the present PTA is also not built in a year. SMK Seafield has always had a PTA known for her zeal and grit. Under the guidance and leading of Dato Rahman Bin Haji Ali and his team, the PTA scored her best in the eyes of the nation's judges. The prize was won with much sacrifice and energy. We went under the hammer and scrutiny of authorities of all levels and had many moments of sweat and tears. Changes after changes were made for the betterment of all concerned so that an ideal PTA be accomplished as a national showpiece ! The PTA chief put in hours and hours of extreme hard work to be where we are today.

The ex-chief and life long patron of the PTA, Datin Rosalind Lee, is a bulwark of support and is always there to give moral and financial assistance. She is here at a call and will be all out to make sure things work out well. The school is fortunate to have her.

Christine and Praba, both members of the PTA are committed and never fail to arrive on time to give the extra support and help. They contribute ideas, energy and time too.

These teachers Latiffah, Shahrizad, Tee Lay Pin and NorAjlaa are tip top in documentations and their records are unquestionable. All letters, correspondences and bills are in order. Nothing is out of order. You do not make the grade when a fault is detected. So, you can imagine the days of horror they went through. On the upside, it is a pleasure and privilege to be found right and impregnable. Now, we can safely say we have the best records in the nation.

Madam Tee, the treasurer made it a point that she be awarded full marks on every visit.Even half a mark away from the perfect score is not acceptable by her. She is not the  hanky panky one; not a cent escapes her accounting eyes and scrutiny. So she scores.Kudos.

This a life time partnership.Datin Rosalind passed the baton to Dato Rahman in 2009 and the torchlight is still shining high. Both of them have been instrumental in the clean bill of the PTA. Congratulations to him and her...

The PTA's direct contributions both financially and morally has helped in the many success stories of the school. They are generous and seldom disappoint requests on the betterment of the children.

Every file, record, letter, figure, account...all dug out, checked and approved before we could arrive at our present status. Not an easy ride.

Perhaps the greatest achievement of the PTA is to create a relationship that works well with the school authorities in their strife for a better tomorrow for the children.
Seldom are there misunderstandings; always a mind to work together.
That's the secret recipe.
Peace.

A great effort to have a clean and first class rest room for the children caught the hearts of many; parents and district directors included. The genuine concern for a better environment for the children convinced judges that the PTA of SMK Seafield is indeed different.

So dear parents stretch out your hands.
We need your time and cooperation for a better future for your children.
Work with the PTA; one of the best in the nation.

Proud to be associated with the school.

Euphoria !

SPM 2011 Results

Unexpected but Appreciated

In her short existence but with the presence of present and past leaders, teachers and students; she has made it again.

In this school of future leaders as convinced and believed by the present principal, we look at them with hope each day. Every morning they are spoken to, at times chided but most of all directed in ways thought fit by the school. Some perceive our ways appropriate; others are not very convinced, still others defy. But we teachers carry out our tasks as correctly as we can.

Today, I had the best of my days in my teaching career; to receive envelopes full of goodies ! It was with the greatest pleasure, pride, gratitude, glee and surprise to be deemed fit for the esteemed position; top SPM school for mainstream day schools category in the local district.

Some agree; others not totally but I must say we have a group of dedicated and highly-esteemed teachers who will walk the extra mile in all tasks taken and given. They are the back bone of all success in the school; may it be carnivals or otherwise.

Look at her. She put both her hands on her mouth when she found out that not even a single child did not make it for the difficult challenge ; Chinese Language.

The Astro Team arrived early; to catch the ethos of this day.

Eager and anxious students flocked in to receive their well-earned results.

Mama Ung has taken leave for half year; a good break away from the discipline duties but gleefully received fantastic results for her daughter !
Daughter Vey Lyn has done mama proud !

Anxiously awaiting outside are parents who came on behalf of their children.

They collected in great anticipation.

Gutsy Kaelan; the ex head boy is sure of himself...yes Straight 10 A +. Congrats young man.

Jagan has his straight As too; well done.

Joining in our joy is the Director of Education Of Selangor; Tuan Abdullah B Mad Yunus who graciously made it a point to drop by to congratulate the students; he is seen here with Terence.

Jonathon with his straight As received his congratulatory hand shake too !

Together with the Director, is our PTA chief who had come in for his son's results. Together with them is Yeo Xin Ying; the top student of the year and who was called for a special award ceremony at the department earlier in the morning. She scored 12 A+ including the Chinese Language.

Proud mother Mrs.Yeoh produces top scholars for the school. Daughter Yeoh Xin Hui was one of the tops in 2007; son Yeoh Yi Tang was top in 2009 and now daughter Xin Ying is top in 2011. She has another daughter with us who must be facing a great challenge. Mothers must learn her secrets. Maybe one day we will invite her for a special talk. Congrats to the mama too.

Yes, the son of PTA chief, Idlan, did just as well and has done papa proud !

The top ones gathered for a last minute shoot; but alas not everyone was present. What is the guy in red doing?

Samuel Saw; our great beat-boxer beat it through ! We will be seeing him in our carnival for the talent hunt ! He had straight As; he must have surprised his dad.

Yeah! We did it! Yes you did it dear boys and girls !

Thank you for working and playing hard which truly befits the saying; all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. The carnival collections was record breaking last year because of their enormous entrepreneurial skills !

Happy for you all, parents, teachers and all concerned. Thank you. Thank you.

For today, all's well that ends well.

Deal !

The deal is on !
Meeting our partner in Solo City brought us complete joy for the day as we were sure we will be of help to them in the teaching of English.

Slapped in the heart of Surakarta, SMA Negeri 4 boasts of a history of more than 5 decades. SMK Seafield is only 18 years old but we were not afraid to tell our story too.

The historical pact was held at her library.

The principal of SMA Negeri 4 was grateful for the partnership as they were also looking for an international school to partner with in their quest for future development. Like us, they have to make effort for international partnership to win any credential for recognition in the local education field.
We must admit although the schools from both countries share similarities in the Malay Language and culture, there were also moments we felt we could not understand each other thoroughly. Many pauses were made to ensure what we shared was well understood. But our mission for the trip was well explained by the principal and it was understood that we wish to offer our expertise in the English Language to the school.
The rich history and culture behind the Borobudur ruins was also hoped to further enhance the history department of SMK Seafield.

Teachers and members of the PTA of both school met on this eventful day. In fact, a personnel from the local education district joined us at this inaugural meeting.

The exchange of gifts and an MOU was finally established for the next course of action. SMK Seafield will be sending a group of teachers during the Chinese New Year break to start the pact in SMA Negeri 4.

Very immediately we had a special session with the English Head of Department to gather further information about the level of English practised here. We did grasp the needs and help needed for the students... I hope so. This was important for the teachers to plan a programme for them . We hope this partnership will see a fruitful venture.

Teacher Indy will be our main contact.

Ms Tan was quick to study the content of the history taught here. She was impressed by the syllabus and hope to feed the Malaysian Ministry of Education on it when she next goes for a meeting with them.

We look forward to a meaningful time of sharing in the learning of English and History.

We also noticed the school has many feathers on their cap and the corridor reminded us of our own corridor of achievements in Seafield.

The staff room is roomy and the teachers were humble and friendly.

Similar to local schools in Malaysia, SMA N4 has rooms like the counseling room to cater to the needs of students whom they call 'siswa'.

The room is spacious and ready to offer services to students of the school.

Outside the counseling room, we saw them playing games and sharing thoughts.

The school cooperative store is manned by 'siswa-siswi' who seem very enterprising. The cooperative teacher of SMK Seafield considered it a privilege to see them in action.

A section of the library has this carpeted area for reading and learning.

The youngest delegate of the group was also quick to grasp the opportunity and while the adults were busy negotiating away, she kept herself busy by reading.

We learnt that SMA N4 has a van to themselves. It is a good idea to possess one with all the co curricular commitments of the school. The principal hastily pulled the chief of our PTA and cheekily told him that this should be the next project to work on !

Yes, perhaps it is time that SMK Seafield has a van to herself too ?

Next, we saw what we wanted for the school. A building to allow co-curricular activities to be carried out under shed in times of need. We are still working at it but the cost is huge ...

SMA N4 also has a cultural centre where cultural activities are held. Cultural dances and expressions are held here.

On another note we also noticed something we share in common, students who come late to school. Here the students were told to use another gate...

This caught my eye. The vehicle is unique as a garbage collecting device.

Outside most public schools, students gather for social activities and the food vendors are similar to ours back home.

Above everything else, we really hope something good will come out of this collaboration and the desires of both schools accomplished. This is only the beginning and we wish for a meaningful partnership in the days to come .

Mission accomplished; for the moment.
