The Heidelberg Castle

The Tourist Attraction
Tourists are told it is a must to have a look at the place.

As I trudged along the pavement of the local street, I was caught by the chimes of this majestic clock. On Sundays it chimed at every other hour. The chimes reminded me of old ways but a refreshing experience.

On Sundays retail comes to a halt in the town. People observe rest; so unlike back home when it always seems 7/11 and the hustling and bustling never ends. The local street was really quiet with occasional baby cries here and there after church service. Fathers and mothers were seen chiding children throwing tantrums; precious moments for relationships to be nurtured.

These two sporting parents after parking their children with local foster parents were as excited as they probed into details of getting into the tourist spot.

It was here at the Kornmarkt Station that we got the tickets for the ride and entry into the palace grounds.

It was a short ride but if were were to walk it would mean bracing through the chilly wind and it would be torturous. Once again I wondered at the grit of tempertat land people. Or is it a matter of getting used to it?

The falling leaves were a sign of new life? or old?

The tourists MUST do it...be photographed.

The entrance to the Palace Grounds... the principal told me to viist Beijing...greater grounds.

I was relieved and happy to see life in some trees; new green leaves are growing on them. It depicted new life and hope; that after low moments life is up and about again.

As were entered, we were greeted by this wide and spacious common ground surrounding the palace. Of course imaginations started to run wild. In the olden glorious days, the local subjects must have gathered here for activities; trading, dancing, gossip and fun. News and instructions from the king must have been announced here.

So typical of communal life; the wishing well. People of then and now wished for good things in life.

The sun clock. You must wonder at their creativity. We have the latest technology as a result of great research done in the past.

I behaved like a typical tourist doing activities depicting one.

Mama Nani is the inquisitive one. She will be the one buying tram tickets; looking for directions and finding places for us. Here she led us into the renown pharmaceutical grounds of old.

We have so much to learn in life. Just when you think you know everything you realise you do not know many things. Pharmacetuical advances are big here and it went back to centuries of the renaisaance era.

The German experience is a serious one; uou can decipher that at the accuracy portrayed in the
storage of materials needed for making drugs.

Weights and measures are no laughing matter; everything so prim and proper. I admire their atttitude.

History was thick; Malacca was mentioned here. Spices were required and traded for drugs. History never lies.

Spices and plants sought after for medicines. Everything in order. German drugs are well trusted; proven good through thick and thin.

This is a pharmaceutical laboratory.

We were next led to another integral part of the palace. The cellar where wine is made and preserved.

The great barrels of wine placed so strategically for use. It was a sight to behold.
Wine making is revolutionary here.

Outside we again were awed by the views of the Neckar River. We were at the other side of the river the previous day.

Awesome and picturesque.

Another angle of the palace. It never stops to be great.

We were glad to be here. Another experience we will keep in our pockets. Of friends, love and sharings.

The Heidelberg Palace though ruined in many parts caused by lightning strikes and wars in the past is still able to steal the hearts of millions of visitors and a money churning concern for the local council. But it was good to feel a part of the past.
