The Unforgettable Ones

Old Comrades
At a wedding last week, old friends met up.I have known both of them since the mid 90s.Datin Rosalind sat on the role of the PTA chief for a good 8 years before retiring some years ago.Dynamic and strong, she has contributed much to the betterment of the school. The school band is her baby and she still has a soft spot for it and ever willing to help financially for its expansion plans.
Next to me is the evergreen beauty; Datuk Che Manis. She headed the school from 1996 to 2003.Under her, many achievements were made including the 'Sekolah Harapan Negara' award. From then on, there was no turning back; the school surged forward all the way. The evening saw her as beautiful and as charming as ever.I was elated to see her again. She was a compassionate head.

These are some of the old timers of the school; Maziha, Zunaidah, Norhayati and Shahrizad. They are tough and will fight for the cause of the school. Though not very young, they are young at hearts and are gungho at challenges given to them; even at the last minute. They practise the 'never die' attitude. Oh it so good to have them around.

This is another die hard team. Ng Poh Choo, Sophia and Tee Lay Pin.Serious at their work, they are a group of good people.Yes, they will conquer at any task.

These are precious gems of the school; money cannot buy. Sensible, hardworking and dedicated; Goh Poh Chiok and Poh Bee Lee are a breed hard to replace. Now you know why the school is so loved by many.

When told that the ex principal was at the next table, they lined up to hug her. When at a wedding dinner, they still are so well-behaved. Lined up for their chance. The teachers are so commendable and exemplary.

This can go down to the annals of the school. The past and the present meeting over a dinner at the courtesy of Teh Seok Im.Yes. The 3 principals; Datin Zaleha, Teh Seok Im and Datuk Che Manis; all of the strong breed species and rare to find. All 3 have styles that belong to them only and yet when combined throughout the years, it concorded a strength and recipe that coined a character that belongs to Seafield alone. It was nostalgic and historic. I went home pondering over the past years and our times and moments together. I must surely be getting old; too emotional. But I am glad they are a part of my life for I have learnt precious lessons through their leadership styles.
May we stay relevant and meaningful to all around us even after we have stopped functioning as teachers.
Teachers stay as teachers forever.

Tomorrow is another day to remember them by.
Happy Teacher's Day.
